As the illustration shows, The Vedas are means by which we learn what dharmaH (the right thing to do) is. Knowing what is right, we acquire (arthaH) that which is desired (kAmaH) by us. We continue in this cycle of desires and desires fulfilled. dharmaH monitors to make sure that our kAmaH is within the realm of ‘right’. Once we get out of this multi-colored maze, vedAntam takes over, where we pursue AtmajjnAnam.
